Large confirmatory trials. The last step before filing.
Stops testosterone being converted into DHT, the hormone that drives pattern hair loss.
A research record, not medical advice: being listed here says nothing about whether a treatment works or whether it is right for you. Talk to a dermatologist about your own case.
Why it matters
Dutasteride is approved for male pattern hair loss in South Korea and Japan at 0.5 mg, as its own entry records; AD-208 is a lower dose of the same molecule. Addpharma's Phase 3, 139 men randomised against placebo and published in the Annals of Dermatology in 2025, reported a vertex hair-count gain of 22.4 hairs/cm² against 5.1 on placebo at week 24, with adverse events no different from placebo, by the investigators' account. Whether a lower dose trades any of the 0.5 mg effect for tolerability is not something a placebo comparison can show. Dutasteride is prescription-only in France and not approved there for hair loss.
