Why it matters
Dermatologists prescribe low-dose oral minoxidil off-label, and academic randomised trials of it have been published, including a 2024 JAMA Dermatology comparison against the topical. What has never existed is a formulation studied for an approved hair-loss label: VDPHL01 is Veradermics's extended-release tablet at 8.5 mg, designed to avoid the peak concentrations of immediate-release minoxidil. The company reported positive topline results in April 2026 from Part A of its Phase 2/3 in over 500 men, presented in May, and Phase 3s in men and women are under way. The point of the programme is a label, which off-label prescribing cannot supply; until then the numbers are the sponsor's.
