How it is meant to work
Phenylephrine, oxymetazoline and related alpha-1 agonists constrict scalp vessels. In chemotherapy-induced hair loss the intent is to reduce how much cytotoxic drug reaches the follicle, the same principle as a cooling cap, attempted pharmacologically. The sponsor also describes a TAAR-agonist component in the shedding formulation, and DA-005, paired with the topicals in two studies, is an oral botanical supplement it describes as a HIF-1α inhibitor. How any of this would work in androgenetic alopecia is not established by the registry records.
Why it matters
It is the clearest example in the register of one sponsor running a family of numbered formulations across several indications at once: shedding, pattern loss and chemotherapy-induced alopecia. Filed as one row deliberately, because splitting the codes would suggest more independent programmes than exist. What has actually started is modest: a phenylephrine pharmacokinetic study in Italy and a Phase 1/2 of DA-020 in chemotherapy-induced alopecia recruiting since May 2026. The three Phase 3 and Phase 2/3 studies remain 'not yet recruiting', two of them past their planned start dates, so the phase shown here is the one that has begun.
