Remetinostat (SHP-141, SHAPE gel)
Development of Remetinostat (SHP-141, SHAPE gel) for alopecia areata was discontinued by TetraLogic Pharmaceuticals.
A skin-restricted HDAC inhibitor registered for alopecia areata in 2015, then sold with TetraLogic's other HDAC and SMAC-mimetic assets to a company whose remetinostat page lists no hair indication.

How it is meant to work
Remetinostat is a topical histone deacetylase inhibitor built to be inactivated as soon as it reaches the blood, so the effect stays in the skin. Its main development indication has been cutaneous T-cell lymphoma.
Why it matters
The Phase 2, forty patients planned, was registered in December 2015 and last updated in October 2016 before recruiting; the status has read 'unknown' since. TetraLogic completed the sale of its HDAC and SMAC-mimetic assets to Medivir on 29 December 2016, and Medivir's remetinostat page lists cutaneous lymphoma and skin cancers only, through its 2025 out-licence to Biossil. No document says the alopecia study was cancelled; the asset sale and nine years of silence are the evidence.
