Topical androgen-receptor blockers

Programmes that block the androgen receptor in the scalp itself, aiming for the effect of the approved hormonal drugs without exposing the whole body to them.

None is approved for hair loss anywhere yet. The first positive Phase 3 results arrived in late 2025 and 2026, after earlier trials had missed — but a positive readout is not a filing, and a filing is not an approval; none has yet been filed. The class's central question also remains open: a drug applied to the skin does not necessarily stay there, and an anti-androgen that reaches the bloodstream gives up its reason to exist.
