Tests whether it works, at what dose, in a few hundred people.
Changes the follicle's energy metabolism to push resting follicles back into growth.

How it is meant to work
Energenesis describes an AMPK activator that raises ATP in dermal papilla cells, on the argument that an energised papilla keeps the follicle in its growth phase longer. Metabolic, like PP405, by a different route.
Why it matters
The Phase 2 randomised 67 women with pattern hair loss to ENERGI-F701 or 2% minoxidil for 12 weeks; the registered primary endpoint was hairs shed on combing, not density. The company's figures, presented as a 2023 conference abstract in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology: density rose from 80.8 to 92.9 hairs/cm² on F701 and from 90.1 to 101.9 on minoxidil, with fewer local skin reactions on F701 (5.9% against 21.2%). An abstract is not a paper. The trial, registered in 2017, completed in 2019, and no other has been registered since; the company still lists the compound.
